Week 1 MTC: "The Gift of Tongues is Real"

Dobry den!

I've finally made it a week! Only 8 more to go before I get to go to Czech but who's counting...... I'm trying to remember all the fun things I did this week, but its hard to remember, there was just so much! My district is all sisters and we only have 7 Elders in our zone with 17 Sisters. Thanks to Elder Bradshaw and Elder Snell who are going to the Adriatic North mission, I already feel a part of the zone when they gave me a "pass along" that the Czech Elders have been passing to all the new missionarys when they leave. I guess its been going on for a year and I was excited to see what it was when they told me that..... it was a can of canned beef.... thanks! The next missionarys will love it... My district is just me and 4 other sisters and we are all learning Czech but one, Sestra Campbell is learning slovak. I feel like all 5 of us Sestra Quist, Sestra Campbell, Sestra dance, and Sestra Webb are all companions because we do everything together!  My companion Sestra Quist is very sweet. I am lucky to have her. We all get along so well.

The classes are going great; my teachers are awesome! They really know how to help you when you're having so much shoved at you all at once! The first day was a little scary especially when I came in thinking it was going to be like prison.. I call it a spiritual sorority now its much more comforting than prison!! And everyone that told me they throw you right into it was so right! I walked into my first class and the first thing I hear is Czech. It was a little scary, but by the end of the first day we knew some words and could introduce ourselves in Czech. Little did we know, the next day we would be praying in Czech and then the following day we would be teaching an investigator in Czech... Czech is so hard but i am SLOWLY but surely getting it... we've already gotten to the point where we don't have to bring in a full script to teach we just bring in notes and we are able to communicate. The last lesson I was so excited because I understood a lot of what our investigator was saying and I was able to answer her questions and understood a joke she made! The gift of tongues is real. Just think, I was able to do all that and its only been a week! Sorry if i suck at English in this email because after trying to learn a language you start to forget how to speak English and you can't speak Czech fully yet so pretty much I'm just loosing all source of communication! :)

I've Learned so much so far like when everyone told me to "forget yourself and go to work" its so true I have no time to think about anything but studying everything i can, LOTS of praying, reading the scriptures, and trying to use all the Czech I can all day. They keep you very distracted here which is good! My favorite day so far is Tuesday because the devotionals are amazing, and I sing in the choir at the devotionals.... yes me.. sing.. don't ask.. we got to sing with Lexi Walker. I didn't know who she was before but everyone said she got famous for singing let it go or something? but she's only 14 and she sings amazing! I also love P days! I've never loved wearing jeans so much! Anyways so far I'm loving it and having so much fun and learning so much. This is for sure 100% out of my comfort zone and I do things that scare me everyday but that is just part of being a missionary. Heavenly Father is shaping me into who he wants me to become so i can better teach his children and I am so grateful for this calling it is such a blessing. Love you guys!
